At the YMCA, what happens off the field is just as important as what happens on the field. Our sports programs help young people grow personally, clarify values, improve relationships, appreciate diversity, develop leadership skills and have fun.

Youth Sports Classes

Preschool Instructional Programs (up to 4 years)

Our Instructors and Coaches help guide the child through classes which are designed to help build gross motor skills, social interaction, and develop coordination by doing a series of drills and cardiovascular exercise.  Through fun and enriching experiences in sports, the development of character starts to unfold. Examples of classes are:

Bouncing Babies
This parent/child class for introduces young children (10-23 months) to gymnastics to help develop motor development skills through gymnastics with a parents help. It will help increase strength, coordination and balance.

Parent/Child Sports Kids and their parent(s) explore the basic movements and skills of sports such as tumbling, dribbling, throwing, catching, and hitting. Fun games work on coordination and balance.

Tiny Tumblers For first timers who want to experience the art of movement while balancing on a gym apparatus.

Intro to Sports Experience all sports such as soccer, basketball, hockey, and much more.

Youth Instructional Programs (4 years and up)

These classes are to help the child to enhance their knowledge of sports. Through an array of exercises, games, and drills the child will develop sport skills. Along with building a Healthy Spirit, Mind and Body there will be exciting fun for every participant. Examples of classes are:

Mighty Might Sports Kids develop throwing, catching and striking skills through a progression of activities without the aid of their parents.

Lacrosse Childern learn the basic skills in the fastest growing sport around.

Basketball This class is for the kid that loves basketball and wants to improve their skills

Soccer Learn how to make soccer moves, dribble, score goals, and much more with our soccer sessions or team up with a friend and play in a league.

Tennis Kids learn n introduction to tennis fundamentals including stroke development and game strategy.

T-Ball This class emphasizes teaching the fundamentals of catching, throwing, batting and base running through fun drills and games.

Youth Sports Leagues

Kids have fun in all our sports leagues. They learn and develop basic skills and values through healthy competition and teamwork. We offer a number of different sports throughout the year including:

  • Basketball
  • T-Ball
