About CTC
Downingtown Area Communities that Care (CTC) is an organization that empowers local citizens, businesses, community members, youth, schools and other community leaders to work collaboratively to reduce youth behavioral and health problems.
The mission of the organization is to be dedicated to promoting a safe and supportive environment for our youth and families through the facilitation of prevention initiatives and activities that engage and unify our community.
Communities That Care (CTC) is a model based on thirty years of research that has proven to help mobilize communities to promote healthy youth development and prevent adolescent problem behaviors.
CTC is a planning and mobilization process that was developed to assist communities in identifying risks within a particular community that can lead youth to engage in unhealthy behaviors and to identify effective strategies to reduce these risks.
In addition, the CTC operating system has shown to be effective in enhancing interagency collaboration, reducing duplication of services, and coordinating efforts to share resources thereby increasing community involvement in prevention activities.
