Website Update - Virus Threat Eliminated

In late June, the YMCA website was attacked causing the corruption of some back office applications. The attack was a SQL Injection attack, a form of sabotage that is running rampant across the Internet right now. For the protection of our members, all public links that created a gateway to the dynamic content affecting lionvilleymca.org and umly.org were removed and the files deleted. The YMCA did not host any malware, but acted as a gateway. This happened because the China Bot attacks created java script commands in our database entries instructing computers to download either a Trojan horse or virus. Web access to any files attached to that database has been deleted.

Google and our Websites

An unfortunate consequence of this still affects Google users. Those who attempt to connect to our YMCA websites via Google will see a warning message and blocked access. Google indicates that more than 170 pages were affected. These pages were mostly the dynamic pages that launch program or class information and fitness schedule grids.

The YMCA’s webmaster has been working with Google to get our sites reconsidered. Google indicates that this may take several weeks.

In the interim, please be assured that the YMCA has taken all the necessary steps to resolve this situation. To safely bypass the Google warning, simply type umly.org in the address window of your web browser. For online registration, members may also point their browsers directly to https://y-online.org.

UMLY Swimmer at Olympic Trials

Evan Reed, 18 competed for a spot on the United States Olympic Team on July 2. Reed was seeded 51st in the 100 Meter Freestyle – just two and a half seconds behind Michael Phelps. More than 120 athletes were entered in Evan's event.

Reed is the current YMCA National Champion and record holder in the 100 yard freestyle. He's a member of YMCA's Summer Swim Team and is a volunteer coach. Congrats to Evan for making it to trials!
